About
I remember it well. I was picked up from school – and when I got home I just couldn’t get out of the car. I spent the next three weeks in bed. I was diagnosed with many things – but the favourite was post viral fatigue syndrome.
After three weeks in bed I was dragged back to school and learnt to really hate it. I was in bed as soon as I got home and could barely function. This went on for over nine months.
The only piece of luck I had was that my parents were determined that they would get to the bottom of the problem. After exhausting traditional medicine, they started taking me to all the different types of alternative practitioners they could find. This included homeopathy, hypnotherapy and reiki. Over time I started to improve. So much so that my parents decided to retrain and become Hypnotherapists themselves, setting up their own practise. My father and I took the same Reiki course in 1993 with international Reiki Master, Barbara McGregor, and I was fascinated by her teachings about how illness and injury all start in the subconscious mind. The rest of my family then trained in Reiki, and my parents added it as an offering in their Hypnotherapy practice. It became inevitable that I would also train in a similar field, and I was very lucky that the first university degree course in Europe was starting just when I needed it!
